There was a time, not long ago,
 when you meant the world to me,
when your voice would set my face aglow,
 and your breath would set my heart free.

You always made me feel special,
 and you put your heart on the line.
Your life was another's in full,
 but your heart was forever mine.

I believed in your sweetest lies,
 spoken in the language of my heart.
Only you have ever found my
 heart of hearts, hidden well and apart.

Only you have spoken the words
 that my soul always longed to hear.
With you my heart flew with the birds,
 I was happy when you were near.

 

You listened to my deepest fears,
and you sat through my foulest tears,
You never pushed, you just sat near.

Together we dreamed among the stars.
There were minor tiffs, never wars.
Dearest friends, you were never far.

 

Then one day my world ended.
 You ran away and tore me apart.
 While much may change, my broken heart
I think, may never be mended

I see now that your lies were not,
 intended to hurt me or to,
 make me believe your virtues few.
You wanted me happy and you forgot,

That it was you I loved and not,
 the lies that you were hiding behind.
 I loved when your soul touched mine.
Maybe you missed it.  I did not!

...but I do.  Today I miss you.
 I will always love you my friend,
 I know that this will never end,
your love deep as I ever knew,

but I can not dwell on lost dreams.
 I can't cry forever about "What,
 might have beens" and my lost dreams, but...
Sometimes nothing is as it seems.
