Beautiful Woman

Beautiful woman
As lovely as a spring morn
Woman I adore

Soft as the cherubim
The picture of vim and health
Sweet as love itself

You are that woman
Of whom the poets have written
Since time has begun

 You are the beauty
That makes men’s souls soar and quake
And others forsake

Innocence so pure
A presence so very light
A man’s heart you smite

 I just don’t know why
You would want a man like the
Man you see in me

I have seen so much
In my brief span on this Earth
Yet ne’er since my birth

Have I seen a one
Lovely in tone as the sun
Firm of thigh and one

Who could make heart leap
Who could make the darkness creep
Who could ease my sleep

Ne’er shall I kiss you
Or love and hold you so tight
Love you through the night

Ne’er shall I love you
‘Til your heart envelops me
‘Til I grow and see

That in front of me
Which spurs my heart to great deeds
And shows aching needs

Beyond all that I
Have know before I met the
Woman who’s beauty

Pierces straight through my
heart, mind, body, and my soul
And leaves me a hole

Where I once was whole
And all that I can now do
Is look for a new

Life born from the old
To make me feel more complete
To make life replete

With the splendor that
Is you my dear sweet lady
Who brightens shady

Reaches in my soul
And who knows me oh too well
And makes my heart swell

The moment that I
See you each and every day
Could I love that way?

“Never again” I said
Once while I felt so bitter
Ne’er shall a critter

Or woman tame me
My lonely heart will go on
Ever so alone

I won’t e’er need you
Not at all until I die
Yet maybe, will I?
